In September 2009, ENGIE acquired a 33,33% working interest in exploration offshore of Indonesia from eni in the Muara Bakau licence.
The joint plan for development (POD) of Jangkrik and Jangkrik-North East was approved in 2013. The project execution phase of the deep water Jangkrik complex was launched in 2014.
ENGIE and eni then submitted a development plan for the Jangkrik field, which was approved by Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in November 2011. The two partners completed the basic engineering and launched the call for tenders for Front-End Engineering Design studies, regarding floating production unit procurement and construction as well as the subsea equipment. These studies were completed in July 2013, and the commercial offers are being assessed.
The successful exploration of Jangkrik Northeast resulted in the submission of a new development plan to Indonesian authorities. The new development plan was approved in January 2013, and both fields will be jointly developed.
Muara Bakau is one of the Group’s E&P to LNG projects. The gas will be sent to the Bontang LNG plant to be liquefied and sold on the Asian market.
Current status: The partners have completed the Basic Engineering, and the FEED-EPC activities. Beginning 2014, the project was sanctioned and the execution phase began. First gas is expected in 2017.
