In late 2008, ENGIE obtained its first exploration and production licence in Libya by purchasing 20% working interest from the Greek energy producer Hellenic Petroleum and joining a consortium with Woodside (45%) and Repsol (35%).
The consortium has made several discoveries:
In 2009, the consortium submitted field development plans for these discoveries to Libya’s National Oil Corporation.
In 2011, Woodside sold its working interest to LIA (Libyan Investment Authority).
In 2013, ENGIE was elected operator.
No operation is currently going on.
