ENGIE is the operator with a 100% participating interest. The licence is located in the Nile Delta and now covers approx. 700 km² area after relinquishing mandatory areas at the end of each exploration period.
Nearly 800 km² of 3D MAZ seismic were acquired and proceeded during 2010-2011.
During the exploration phase, ended in March 2014, various gas discoveries have been made in WEB-1X (2008) and Papyrus-1X (2010) exploration wells. A third well named Bamboo-1X, located about 5 km away from the Papyrus discovery, was drilled in 2010.
A technical discovery was considered and a development of the southern discoveries (WEB 1X and Papyrus 1X) is now envisaged. Exploration phase in the northern area of the concession is ongoing and the first exploration well was drilled in 2012-2013.
Agreements were signed in November 2014 to connect and process future West el Burullus production to West Delta Deep Marine complex operated by BG.
